It seems to me that the natural world is the greatest source of
excitement; the greatest source of visual beauty; the greatest source of
intellectual interest. It is the greatest source of so much in life
that makes life worth living.

4. Water brush Pen
5. Watercolour P-Yellow Deep, Cerulean Blue, Sap Green and Crimson Lake
6. Watercolour paper size 23 x 14 cm
Tropical Flower Limited Colour Illustration - In nature as tropical , most dominate colour are green, yet there are indeed abundance of nature treasure in so much colour. It's can be overwhelmed discover the colourful palette.To have simple yet interesting botanical illustration, choice of colour are essential. The balance of each colour are best when each of it compliment one another.
For this project the palette are limited within 5 colour , using 3 primary colour ( P-Yellow Deep, Cerulean Blue,Crimson Lake plus 1 additional colour ( Sap Green )
Start with clean line with black pen or pencil
List of flowers :
bauhinia kockiana, heliconia indica, cassia fistula, ensete perrieri, bixa orellana
With tropical colour palette , start with light wash each of flowers and leaves
My main inspiration for this project using limited colour came from favorite director of mine, Wes Anderson. He is well known for using very visually and colour balance for his film. Among those film are, The Darjeeling Limited.
The colour blue ( cerulen blue) dominate thru out the film , however colour of each scene down to every detail , from the luggage print, wallpaper of train even the sleeping attire, are compliment to each other . The realness colour of India ( the film location) are very much the colour by walking the street in Penang Little India , George Town. It's combination of both pattern , size, shape and colour. To select flowers or plant for tropical theme can be wide and diversity, give a story to each illustration make it more interesting.
